The Great wall is very long and its many parts offer different experience. but the view of the wall and the pleasure of traveling is different in every season. in this blog, i will tell you in detail when is the best time to visit the Great wall of China, the advantages of going there in different seasons, and some tips to make your trip memorable. 

What is the best time to visit the Great wall of China

The Great wall is open year-round, but each season has its own unique experience.

1. Spring (March - May) - Best time 

2. Summer (June - August) - Both crowd and heat are more

3. Autumn (September - November) - The most beautiful season

4. Winters (December - February) - Amazing view covered in snow 

Now lets us understand all these seasons in detail so that you can choose the best time for yourself.

1. Spring (March to May) - Beautiful Great wall full of flowers

Why go?

1. The weather is pleasant, neither too cold nor too hot. 

2. There is greenery and blooming flowers all around, which make the wall very beautiful.

3. Clear skies and less haze, making for spectacular views. 

4. Crowds are less, especially in March and April.

Why not go?

In May, China has a holiday called Labor Day (May 1), which can be very crowded. 

Best section to visit 

1. Mutianyu section - This part is beautiful Nestled between valleys and green hills, it is best to visit in spring. 

2. Jinshanling section - The view from here is amazing the view is spectacular and is a perfect place for photography

2. Summer (June to August) - Time for long holidays, but beware of the heat

1. The days are longer, allowing for more time to explore.

2. Perfect season to go with kids and family as there are school holidays.

Why not go?

1. There is not much shade on the Great wall, which can make walking around in the hot sun a bit difficult.

2. There are also a lot of Chinese tourists in July and August, which increases the crowd.

Best section to visit

1. Badaling section - This is the most popular part, but it can get very crowded in summer.

2. Jiankou section - This is an off-beat place which will be perfect for adventure lovers.

Tips

1. Go early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the sun.

2. Take care of hydration, carry plenty of water with you 

3. carry umbrella, sunscreen and light clothing.

3. Autumn (September to November) - is the most wonderful season

Why go?

1. The weather is absolutely perfect, neither too hot nor too cold.

2. The leaves of the trees turn red, yellow and golden, making the view extremely beautiful.

3. It is the best season for photography.

4. It is also a great time for trekking and long walks.

Why not go?

The  Chinese National Holiday (Golden Week) falls in early October, which is very crowded.

Best seasons to visit 

1. Simatai Section - This area is open even at night and has an amazing view in autumn.

2. Huanghuacheng Section - Here the Great Wall passes along the water's edge, which looks extremely beautiful in October-November.

Tips 

1. Try not to travel during golden week (October 1-7).

2. Make sure to bring your camera along as the views will be truly spectacular.

4. Winters (December to February) - The magic of the snow-clad Great Wall

Why go?

1. The snow-clad Great Wall looks like a dream .

2. There are very few tourists which gives you a chance to escape the crowds.

3. Hotel and flight rates go down.

Why not go?

1. It is very cold temperatures can drop to -10 C

2. At some places ice accumulates on the wall which can cause slippery conditions.

3. Some parts (such as Jiankou) may be closed.

Best seasons to visit

1. Mutianyu Section - This part is safe and it is more maintained making it easier to travel around in the winter.

2. Jinshanling Section - This area is good for trekking but beware of icy roads.

Tips 

1. Wear warm cloths, gloves and good trekking shoes.

2. Go early in the morning so that you can roam around comfortably in daylight.

My Advice

if you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the best views, opt for September to November (autumn) or March to May (spring).
